History of Keno

Keno is a game with Asian origins. The discovery of some Chinese scrolls indicate that it began around 200 BC during the time of the Han Dynasty.

Originally called "The Game of the White Dove" the game was played in a similar format to bingo.

Keno was invented by Cheung Leung. When his city was under siege the game was used in a similar manner to a lottery to raise revenue for the city.

The desire of the people to gain a potential windfall for a small sacrifice was massive and the game was incredibly popular.

Doves were used to transmit news of the results thus it gained its name as, "The Game of the White Dove."

It became incredibly popular and so word of the game spread.

In the late 19th century Keno was played like a lottery and with the popularity increasing its future was assured.
